This is not your auntie’s mahjong night.
You will learn the game, sip something special, clack some tiles, and probably make a few new friends along the way. Many players come solo, so do not worry about bringing a group.
If the idea of fast-paced tables and intense rule debates makes you nervous, do not worry. This table focuses on the fun, social side of mahjong. We learn together, laugh at our mistakes, and enjoy the game as we go.
Tiles, snacks, drinks, and good company included.
Come for the tiles. Stay for the vibe.
The Vibe
This is mahjong happy hour (or bestie brunch), not tournament night.
The rules are real, but we do not take ourselves too seriously.
Expect:
- BYOB friendly
- Snacks & flavored sparkling water provided
- A relaxed, welcoming atmosphere
Come solo or invite friends. Mahjong has a funny way of turning strangers into tablemates by the end of the night.
Choose Your Table
We will have two tables running during the session so everyone can play at their own comfort level.
Beginner Table | Learn While You Play
New to mahjong? Perfect.
At the beginner table we walk through the game together while we play. Players are paired up so you can learn alongside someone else and help each other remember the rules.
No experience required. Just curiosity and a willingness to laugh when things get a little chaotic.
Open Play Table | For Players Who Know the Basics
Already familiar with the game? Grab a seat at the open play table.
You will play independently on our automatic mahjong table that sorts and stacks the tiles between rounds. It is both magical and extremely satisfying.
This table is for players who already know the basics and want to jump right into the fun.
This Is Perfect For
• “I have always wanted to learn mahjong” people
• Game night lovers
• Social butterflies and curious beginners
• Friends looking for a different kind of night out
• Anyone who enjoys snacks, drinks, and a little friendly chaos
No experience required. We will teach you.
What to Expect & Bring
BYOB is welcome.
Feel free to bring your favorite drink. Snacks are also welcome if you would like to share with the table, but not required. We will have snacks and flavored sparkling water available as well.
Mahjong cards will be provided during play time.
If you would like to have your own card to take home, which is great for practicing online, they will also be available for purchase at the studio.
Plan to stay for the full session.
The registration reserves your seat for the entire 3-hour play window. Because of the nature of mahjong, games run continuously and players need to stay for the session once play begins.
The $20 fee includes flavored sparkling water, gluten-free snacks, and use of tiles and cards.
Come comfortable, bring a drink if you would like, and get ready to learn, play, and clack some tiles.
Coming solo? Perfect. Many players come on their own. You will have tablemates in no time.
Only 12 seats are available per session, so grab a spot at the table and come see why everyone is falling in love with mahjong.
Upon registration, you'll receive an e-mail with details about the home studio (located in south Reston, VA) and what to expect.
