Step into the world of clay as a canvas for your imagination. This invites both beginners and returning makers to explore the expressive side of ceramics in a relaxed, creative environment.
Nida returns to the studio to help us bring Spring to life on plates and platters.
Taught by guest teacher, potter, painter, and an Ikebana Artist, Dr. Nida Davis. A certified Master in the art of Ikebana flower arrangement by the Sogetsu School, it was this love that brought her to start painting and making hand-built pottery to design expressive nature art and to build Ikebana vases since 2014. Her art is connected to nature
through color with focus on flowers, birds, animals and abstract drawings.
A Doctor of Liberal Studies from Georgetown University (and MBA!), she currently teaches hand-built pottery at the Round Hill Art Center. She volunteers with the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy as a trail leader to save and protect the Blue Birds at Hanson Park. For my full-time profession, during the workdays, I protect the world from cyber hackers.
You'll learn how to bring your ideas to life through organic shapes, layered surfaces, and thoughtful details, all while discovering your personal voice in clay. This class will help guide you to create a 2-D scene for your own creative expression. You’ll find inspiration and support at every step in this fun workshop.

Price includes a greenware plate of your choosing pre-made by Nida and Stacy in the studio (or bring your own), shelf space, and both firings (we will use underglaze then clear will be applied for a final finish). We will have a break around 2:30pm, bring your own food or we'll order takeout together.
